How do we get people to behave better? The answer is: Go to church. It may seem simplistic, but it’s true.
Never mind the idea of the after life or the hereafter. While that’s certainly important, the church can help you NOW with morals and values.
The Golden Rule (“do unto others as you would have them do unto you”) comes to mind here. You are to model godly behavior in all that you do. You wouldn’t be cursing, you wouldn’t be spitting at people, you wouldn’t be doing drugs, you wouldn’t be doing all the things that would get you into trouble.
If you’re from a broken home, a broken family – you can get a new one: a church family. You can believe in God as your Heavenly Father, even if you don’t have an earthly father in your life.
Back when people were dirt poor, during the Depression for example, there wasn’t a lot of crime because people attended church. Now church attendance is very sporadic, if at all, and there’s more crime. Is there a correlation? I think there is.
Regardless of the beliefs, religion is a life-plan. A structured belief system keeps order in society. People would respect one another and help one another. Certainly, you don’t need religion to be nice to other people – but Jesus calls us to “love one another” and God gives us the Holy Spirit to enable us to do that even when we don’t feel like it.
There is a great need for Christ in our community. Is Christ in your life? Imagine the impact Jesus can have on your life RIGHT NOW! The church can help you realize that personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
